SolidWorks World 2014 Top Ten List is now open for Idea submissions

Top Ten ListFrom the SolidWorks Forums:
It is the time of the year to start preparing for SolidWorks World 2014.  To start things off we are looking for your input in creating the SolidWorks World Top Ten List.  This is a list of your ideas for enhancements to future versions of SolidWorks.  The top rated ideas are reviewed at the SolidWorks World 2014 General Session on Wednesday 1/29/2014.  These ideas provide guidance for future developments in SolidWorks. You can see a majority of the ideas from former SolidWorks World Top Ten lists implemented now in the SolidWorks product.  You do not have to be an attendee of SolidWorks World 2014 to submit your ideas.

Starting on Wednesday, October 31 2013; the list will be open for idea generations and discussion only.  To participate in the SolidWorks World 2014 Top Ten list access the SolidWorks World 2014 section of the discussion forum and click the “Ideas” tab or click the “SolidWorks Top Ten List” button (you have to be logged into the Forums).  During this period any customer can submit ideas and comment on existing ideas, but you will not yet be able to cast any votes.  Since we will receive so many responses, please be sure to search through existing ideas to see if someone has already submitted the same idea.  In this case, please comment on the existing idea rather than creating a duplicate idea.

Starting Monday, December 16, 2013 the webpage will be closed to  new idea generation and will be opened up for voting.  When voting, you are allowed to up or down vote as many ideas as you like. Voting will close on Wednesday, January 15, 2014.

Whether or not you are attending SolidWorks World 2014 in San Diego, this is an easy way to tell us how you use SolidWorks and how we can improve it to meet your needs.  So please start thinking of what new functionality you would like to see, participate in the SolidWorks World 2014 Top Ten List and we will hopefully see you at SolidWorks World 2014 in San Diego.

SolidWorks World 2014 Jan 26-29 2014 @ San Diego Convention Center

SolidWorks World 2014

Yup, time to start thinking about SolidWorks World 2014.  This year, San Diego has the honor of hosting our event at the San Diego Convention Center.  If case you are not aware, Comic-Con uses this same site in July.  It is a great location (being in San Diego).

Call for Presentations is still wide open!  Presenting does have its benefits (not just recognition)!

Call for Presentations

Boss’s justification letter and other reasons to attend are always available.  (SolidWorks World 2014 doesn’t fall on Valentine’s this year, so the Luvification letter won’t be quite as necessary this year, but you are welcome to modify it to use this year if needed.)  As before, attendees have the oppotunity to take a CSWP exam as part of their attendance.

Why Attend? Justification!

There’s also so many other things to do in San Diego while you are there.  I’ll be publishing an update to this article this year, but for now, here’s the list of a couple years ago.

See you there!

Keep Shooting Bugs – SolidWorks 2014 Beta Week 2

SolidWorks 2014 Beta testing is in full swing with SolidWorks users and VAR employees from all over the world are enjoying shooting the Beta bugs.

Not only that, they are also competing with each other in various SolidWorks 2014 Beta Contests.

So how about you? Have you join in the force for the Beta testing or still need some good reasons for Beta Testing? Here are some of my reasons for being a part of Beta testing Force:

See New Features/Options: Get information of what new features are coming up.

Test New Features/Options: And not only the information but you’ve a real chance to test the New Features/Options before the software is released. And you can see how the New Features/Options will affect your productivity.

Learn Something New: The New Features/Options give you an opportunity to learn new things and be ahead of other users. You can be a pro in your team when your company upgrades to new version.

It’s like playing an online game with competing to other beta testers.

And the most favorite one; Win Prizes. There are a lot of prizes to be won by participating in various contest. Isn’t that cool.

So what else you need!! Go and shoot some bugs today..

P.S. Your SolidWorks Subscription Service status must be valid and active in order to participate in Beta Programs. Also during the beta testing you’re under an NDA.  Do read “OFFICIAL RULES FOR SOLIDWORKS 2014 BETA CONTESTS

Tempted as I may be, Ricky Jordan’s article covers planned SolidWorks 2014 Enhancements well

Tempted as I may be to spill the beans about planned SolidWorks 2014 enhancements based on what was shown at SolidWorks World 2013, I have to admit that Ricky Jordan’s article already covers them so well, I cannot really add anything more.  Check out his very thorough coverage here:
